At least a few times a month at my day job, and seriously every Friday night at my other job I get hit with so many emotions. I feel so happy and privileged to be surrounded by these amazing people, and I can’t get over how lucky I am to have the opportunity to bring joy into their lives, along with whatever help they may need. Going out to lunch, getting the chance to see a movie, going to the dances means everything to my clients. The littlest things that I would look over- they adore an appreciate like nothing else. So yeah, I feel like fucking SOBBING in a corner at times because I’m so pleased with my job and these people who have changed my life over these past four years, and partly because it saddens me that I can’t bring more to their life. That things are harder for them, that they might never see “finer” things in life, that they aren’t given the opportunity to raise their standards simply because they have a disability, a disability that will never even begin to define them because they are so much more. Life. Isn’t. Fair. But man, I work in the best field. It isn’t always easy, sometimes I loose my head, but these wonderful clients are like my family. Even with their behaviors, good days, bad days, days straight from hell- they are perfect in their own ways and I wouldn’t change one thing about any of them, they keep it real. Always.
